Wine Cabinet Design ...( Ambiance line of climate controlled wine Cabinets)
Thermal Electronics Corp. recently expanded into custom wine cabinets. Our technology is ideally suited for precise temperature control. Because it is solid state cooling, we are able, through electronic control, to precisely maintain temperature inside our wine cabinets so precisely that we can maintain a + / - .5 degrees Fahrenheit range over a week. Our wine cabinets are close to simulating a wine cellar or cave atmosphere with temperature and humidity.
Our competitors boast that they can also maintain this type of control, but it is impossible with mechanical compressors. Mechanical compressors must be turned off and on in order to control the cooling ( full on and full off). If this is done too frequently, the compressor can burn out prematurely. Therefore, they are always set with a temperature range to limit frequency of cycling. Our wine cabinets cooling assemblies also do not extract moisture from inside the cabinet so the cork of the wine is always in a high moisture environment. We also supply thermoelectric modules for replacement of all wine coolers sold in the maket place, TEC1-12706, TEC1-12705, TEC-12704 are the most common and can be purchased by e-mailing your request. There are numerous advantages to using thermoelectric temperature control systems.
Tabulated below is a comparison chart between a TEC system and compressor system.
Thermoelectric chips are electrical semiconductor chips. Cooling is generated by the amount of current. Current is regulated by voltage. Increasing voltage will increase cooling and decreasing voltage will decrease cooling. Through electronics you can precisely regulate the amount of voltage to the thermoelectric chip, and with software you can use a PWM controller to train the system to learn how much cooling is required. Then the system can ever so gradually increase or decrease temperature so the PWM controller never shocks your wine and always maintains precise temperature and humidity control inside your wine cabinet.
All of our woods for our wine cabinets are supplied through a Forest Conservation Program in Central America.
We do not use plywood veneers in our refrigerated wine Cabinets . All of our wood wine cabinets are made from solid wood pieces . Our side panels are 3/16" thick planks match for color and grain continuity. For stability we do use a plywood backing on the sides of the wine cabinet.
Above are two assemblies with two 6 amp tec's in each. The cold sink is inserted into the back
of the cabinet wall . The neoprene is one inch thick and seals against the insulation to achieve
an air tight seal. Total cooling is approximately 260 watts. The main difference between the above design and other air coolers is that we use a cross flow fan to create air flow. The fan is retrofitted with a resistor so that when in operation the decibel level is barely audible , making the operation of the cabinet virtually silent. Other air chillers use high speed muffin fans with high noise Levels. The two assemblies create enough cooling to maintain a cabinet with 150-170 bottles of wine at a consistent 57 degrees Fahrenheit with a room temperature up to 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
Insulation for the cabinet requires a minimum of R-10. ( Approximately 2 inches of Styrofoam).
Above is a prototype unit we are testing for 180 bottles wine cabinet. We showed
the client the smaller wine cabinet we are making for others. They really wanted a larger
capacity cabinet , so we decided to build a test cabinet to determine the size of the cooling unit we would need to achieve optimum temperature. Once we are finished testing.
The refrigerated wine cabinet will be made in Rosewood with Mahogany Legs.
